I'm loving it. I'm hopeful about the rest of the album. I'm not crazy about the title of the album but as long as we get 12 new songs I ain't too mad.

i don't mind the name too much , I like the artwork for it
Very excited about what the rest of the tracks will sound like
Hopefully we get some decent 12" variations and 7"s too

I've ordered the red vinyl and the cd with enhanced booklet thing, looking forward to getting them both. Not sure on the way the vocals sound (very 'Network' to me) but the opening riff is proper old school

Not bad . But i'm still waiting for the next basket case . The album should be good , but i don't think this is gunna be a best seller . They won't top what they did before with that . Timing is good though ... nofx , sum 41 , blink 182 . Its gunna be a good year for punk rock . Critics destroyed the trilogy , i still think it's their best work since nimrod. So my opinion is not large public ! let's see .
I don't like when it takes mes more than 2 listenings before i start enjoying a song. For bang bang , i had to listen to it like 10 times before i start to like it . So no , i'm not really xcited . I still bought the vinyl and cd book , like a fuckin' idiot !
I like the artworks .

I liked bang bang immediately, the riff hit my straight away and I got excited that it could be a return to the faster punk genre I loved the trilogy I really did but much prefer harder music and the trilogy for me was very softer rock in its production and sound, some excellent songs though, listen to them all the time but they are the only albums Green Day have made that I skip some of the songs (but not many

Well i like old power pop bands like the incredible kidda band or the rezillos , so that's why the trilogy made me tap my feet right away . But in the end Grant , it does the same thing all the time . First hitchin' a ride listen = deception , first warning listen = crap , first american idiot listen , good , but other songs = crap . It's always the same for me , because i always compare with what came out before , wich is my favorite stuff . Anything Green Day will pull i'll be deceived , compare to older stuff.
That's why i say im still waiting for the next basket case .
Good point though , the new song is getting better and better , the more i listen to it .

I'm a bit doubtful about a raw fast and punk record . Yes , the riff is pretty loud and intense , but this is not angry green day. They don't do this kind of stuff anymore . It sounds to me (if you remove all vocal parts) a bit like older nimrod angry songs , and some on insomniac too . Songs like platypus , take back , panic song , tight wad hill , no pride . This is the kind of stuff green day was doing back in the days as a response to the critics from the DIY scene banning them , or even parents writing them to sing about positive things , coz their kids are getting fucked up ! I love this underated era , but this is not what sent green day to the top . When you listen to bang bang , you can ear an happy song . It gives a boost of energy for sure , but it makes you smile in the end. American idiot had the same kind of pace ,then it opened the door for a complete brand new green day sound . If you expect a record like insomniac , you're probably wrong. What i see coming , is kind of a 21st century breakdown, starring green day going all around what they do . There will be the smooth ballad for young girls watching twighlight , and there will be a bunch of songs , revisiting their catalog by bringing back multiple sounds they gave us since they're recorded professionaly . This is what i expect . Don't get blurred by a radio caught on fire , that's awesome artwork , but it doesn't mean that the musical part will reflect the cover . Green Day is mature band that can go almost anywhere from the beatles to the exploited . Might be because grey is showing up in my face and i'm getting old , this time , i'm curious , but not excited .
I remember standing in front of the record store for 4 days before nimrod came out , the guy gaved me the yellow spot promotional item hanging at the ceiling when i bought the cd . We smoked about 1500 cigarettes in front of the store , asking them every hour if they had the box . I was anxious to ear thast thing , a real hyperactive crazy teen with both middle fingers raised . This time , i'll just wait and smoothly collect that new chunk coming up !
***have a look . On hype stickers , critics and zines always compare the new album to dookie . ''They're back with their angsty snotty dookie sound blablablabla ''. They're always in the left field , they don't really know what they're talking about , for them , all green day sounds the same . Fuck that , we'll figure out what it is when it's out . But there's no return ! It's NEW stuff.***
Cheers pals

It's kinda funny how we're all pretending that last song never happened.

I like all the songs so far - Still Breathing has some good lyrics in places but some dodgy ones in other places lol but i like the music on it and overall i like the track
i take it your talking about Still breathing? not a fan?

Yeah man. It's growing on me some, but on first listen I hated it. I think lyrically it's OK. It's just way too radio pop for me. Don't get me wrong, I listen to radio pop. But that's just not green day to me. A friend of mine said I should just wait to decide if I like it until I hear it on the record. And I think that's good advice. It might fit right in. I sure hope so. What does everyone else think?
