Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone new with some certainty how many "1000 Hours" were pressed in each color, including the 3rd pressings of Red and Purple?
I have heard many different numbers from as many as a few thousand in red and as little as 100 for instance.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Larry Livermore said all amounts were guesses, just however many they decided to print. No exact figures were ever recorded, due to the fact that back then most of the original presses were sold by the band on tour, if they needed more, more were printed. Larry HATES people asking him about it, as no one really knows. I learned this in a ranting email I got off him a few years back. He prefers if you ask him about stuff like Fulham FC! Don't you own the rarer colours anyway? I'm sure you came on here saying you'd found some for a rather tasty price.

Hey,
I guess I should have been more specific. I assumed that they never really kept track of how many copies of each pressing were actually pressed. It makes sense that they would make more when needed. However Larry or someone must have some idea of how many 1st pressing color copies were made.
I am assuming here but they probably only pressed each color for the first pressings only once and from there just pressed the black vinyl versions X amount of times.
Anyways...

But it was 21 years ago when the first presses were done by an independent label, don't really think they'd become this big now. It's just one of those things people will never find out. Like the pink sleeve 1000 hours, only made when they ran out of green paper & were printed til all the pink ran out, guess it's the same with the colour, printed til they were all gone.

I think you are right with that assumption, I guess in the end it is kind of cool not being able to knowing everything about the record. Just makes collecting them that much more interesting.

Hey, I have a question! Whats the colour difference in the purple vinyl from 1st and 3rd pressing? The 1st is darker isn't it? Does somebody have a picture of both together? I need to know! Thank you Best wishes, Chris

I have in my collection a 1000 hours on purple that's definitely a 1st press, the purple is very bright compared to the 3rd press. But my copy has just the Laytonville address on the sleeve, not the Laytonville address crossed out with the Berkley address written on.
I always assumed that the purple copies where a later press down the track due to the address change.
Has anyone else got a 1000 hours 1st press purple with the same sleeve ?

Here my 1000 hours collection. I post another photo where you can see the difference between the third and first press on purple vinyl. I hope this will help GreenDayChris. In the photo you can see a strange kind of purple...I call it clear purple. Attachments:

Could be that someone put a 1st press vinyl with a 2nd press sleeve?

Maybe they had some colored 1st press left and just used 2nd press sleeves.. thats what I think cause the original owner bought it like that in the store.. I guess back then it didnt matter that much if its a first press vinyl or not.. they just needed some vinyls to sell and if there were some vinyls left then.. whatever
